Mick Jagger (December 2006)

It’s Thanksgiving Day and I am sitting here in such a state of awe that I really don’t even know where to begin with this newsletter. Please forgive me if I ramble a bit. See you if you can pick out the miracles!

I have been doing The Abundance Book by John Randolph Price. This is a book which I so highly recommend! It consists of a 40 day Meditation practice. Today is Day 80. So many wonderful things have happened since beginning this and I want to tell you about Mick Jagger.

I was hiking in the middle of the woods two days ago when my cell phone rang. (Now that’s a surprise right there as there is rarely any cell reception in the woods of Palos Verdes!). It was a man who is madly in love with the Rolling Stones. He said that a great deal of complexity had come into his life regarding the Stones tickets, in addition to them re-scheduling their date in LA. Many people were supposed to go with him but the short of it was: They all flaked out and DID I WANT TO GO?  (None of this surprised me because I had put this in the God Can some time ago.)

Hello? Have we heard of the phrase: “NO BRAINER?”
I actually had to cancel a class, which I never do and off we went!

Now here I’m going to try to communicate the paradigm shift I witnessed.

Here is a 63 year old man who is running from one end of a giant stage to the next, dancing out of control and singing at the top of his lungs for 2 and a half hours. It looked like his whole body could fit into one leg of my jeans! These guys are tiny!! Compared to what I’d witnessed years ago. I did not see any change whatsoever in the quality of his voice and his performance, but saw that his athleticism was off the charts. So here we have a man/band that started many of us off in our youth. Many people had an entire work life, then retired and then go back and see Mick Jagger exactly as he was in 1964 but maybe better?? I live in California where everyone is young, fit and fabulous but this was so far off the charts I was stunned!!!!!

So he has the CONSCIOUSNESS to perform like a 16 year old, (Oh did I mention this was the 74th date of this tour???), and fill Dodger Stadium and other stadiums every night, where tickets cost anywhere from $350-$1000+, and receive the wealth of all the other revenues? ~~Just by doing the exact same thing he did from the very beginning, with so much passion and so much belief. It seems that if you stick with something long enough, you have to become successful at it!

I really don’t feel my words are justifying this experience but I wanted to share with you, that I saw the bar being raised in a lot of ways. Several years ago, I saw another paradigm shift when I danced in class with Baryshnikov!! (Yes, it’s true!) And I saw him do things with the body and dance that had never been done before either. Here’s to paradigm shifts!
