The girl in the MAC Store (December 2008)
There are a few things that I get right on, one of which is trying out a new make-up!
I had the luxury of having my make up done a few days before Christmas and the make-up artist used a particular make-up base by MAC.
So 3 days before Christmas, I take a DEEP BREATH, approach the mall and do a silent “treatment” that I will get a great parking space and get in and out quickly. (Now I could stop the newsletter right here as I did exactly that and was totally shocked by this demonstration. But the story continues.)
I went in, met a darling girl who said: “You want what make-up? You have perfect skin so why would you want to put that on it?” (Like I said, I could stop at any point because there are so many delightful aspects to this story). Anyhow, they did not carry that particular product so she told me the only place to get it was the professional MAC Store in Las Vegas. Well, luck has it that I am going to Las Vegas in 3 days, so surely I can orchestrate 7 people who are site seeing to just casually drop into the MAC Store so I can buy another pot of make-up of which I probably have 25.
Now off to Las Vegas I go and we decide to go to Caesar’s Palace and viola! We find the store! My friends stay outside, and I again take a deep breath, do a little treatment that I will meet the right person and I saunter in. I see a gal looking at me and we begin to talk. I take out my notes about this particular make-up and she says: “What are you nuts? You have perfect skin. Why would you want this make-up? Are you going to be on-camera everyday?” (Now that’s another really good idea, but I digress). Well, I try to buy something from her to give her a sale and she refuses. She says I have perfect skin and I don’t need any make-up.
Well here’s where it really gets interesting. She begins to tell me that she hates her job, detests it, and has been at it for 30 years! I stop everything and say: “Honey, you don’t understand. There is something SO GREAT that is trying to get to you and you are blocking the flow!!! You must let this go immediately!” She bursts into tears and throws her arms around me sobbing. I go on and on giving her a “treatment’ right then and there in the store. I am definite, clear and focused on this gal. She gives me more of her fear and I say: “You pray for 7 days at the end of which time something will have come to you to replace this job. You will then make so much more money than you can possibly imagine. There is no security in doing something you hate. There is only security in being in love with your life.”
Well by now she is sobbing hysterically.
I leave the store, giving her my web address and telling her that if I come back there, I do not want to see her there.
My friends see me come out and say: “Do you know that girl?”
We can never underestimate 2 things: where we are driven to go and what we are driven to say. (I truly believe that one of the main reasons I ended up in Las Vegas was to meet this girl and lo and behold my vanity drove me to her!) And secondly, always allow your words to be ones of healing, compassion and power.
Affirm often:
I am divinely guided in all my ways and my words are a healing balm over all whom I meet.
Sincerely, Joni
