Good Karma (January 2007)
I had a very interesting experience last week that had several spiritual lessons in it.
My “spirit guides” told me to go to Manhattan Beach Toyota and sell my car, then go to Carson Toyota and buy a new car.
So off I went.
One piece of this story is that when I was first came to California I used to sell cars! I prided myself on being quite good at this and over the years, I’d bought several cars for friends. Before the car buying services, I was very much in demand, and even with them, I could often arrange a better deal for my friends. So off to the dealership I pranced, thinking I could outwit whatever came my way.
Upon entering the dealership I was approached by several men and was quoted a price for the car. When the time came to write up the offer, I was offered nearly a thousand dollars less. I argued for awhile. I did my very best but dressed in my cute yellow jacket with my darling yellow scarf on my head, they were looking at me like I was a little helpless rabbit. I kept trying to argue with them only to realize that my street savvy car salesperson self was not really operating at all right then. I kept saying to these men: “You don’t want to take advantage of me! You don’t know who I am!” (You see, taking advantage of a yoga teacher would be the lowest! Plus did I mention I WORK AT TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS!!!!!! So I gave up and accepted the most dishonorable offer and did go and buy a wonderful new Toyota, easily and effortlessly at the other dealership.
Well, come Monday morning, I sent off an e-mail to Toyota Corporate Headquarters. Within 2 hours of receipt of this e-mail, I got a call from Customer Relations saying, “Joni, we are sooooo sorry this happened to you. What can we do to make it right?” (Just like God talking, isn’t it?)
Don’t you just love it? So within a few minutes we settled on a very equitable arrangement and I was comfortable with the solution.
So the realizations I had from my exciting adventure is:
- You don’t have to maintain your street saaviness when you have God on your side! Karma will always right things for you and you can just float along in your happy innocent dream as I do
- It doesn’t hurt to work for Corporate Headquarters!
Affirm often:
If I knew Who walked beside me, I would never be afraid.
Sincerely, Joni
