The Recession (March 2010)
This newsletter is so irreverent, that I thought about it for a few months before writing it, but I have never noticed myself being respectful of prevailing consciousness so here goes.
I do live in southern California which is an entirely different version of life. So I say with the utmost respect for everyone in our county and in our world, who has lost a home or a job, that I am truly compassionate. As a Science of Mind teacher I do need to keep my mind on the Changeless: that which is permanent in the Mind of God and that includes Prosperity and Abundance.
So I will give you a description of just a little slice of life as I viewed it over the past week-end. I could have written this newsletter anytime over the past year as I have witnessed this type of money flow throughout all this time and consistent with prior years. Of course my mind is fixed on Prosperity so that is all that I am going to see. Remember Law of Attraction?
My friend Lori and I looked forward to going to see the country artists Rascal Flats for a very long time! So we decided to go several hours early to have dinner at a nearby mall then go to the show. Lori and I are never late so we planned carefully how to orchestrate this with plenty of time.
So we went to the mall and fought to get a parking space. We were thrilled when we finally managed to find one-- (1st indication that people are spending money. In fact many many times when I want to go to my local mall, I just go home since I cannot find a parking space, and I notice everyone carrying bags.)
Then we enter the mall to see a mass of hundreds, maybe a thousand people. We go to the first restaurant, (of which there are many): 2 ½ hour wait. We go to the next restaurant, same thing and on and on it goes until we are thrilled to sit at a bar in a restaurant and wait and hour or so to get a salad.
Then the non-fun begins. We drive across the street to the arena, and spend a minimum of one hour just walking towards the gate. Then inside, we see 18,000 people all of whom have paid $100 a seat, (plus another $50-$100 for food and drinks!). It was staggering. The show was wonderful but I think this peek into the massive spending in our local economy was worth the evening.
In my neighborhood, if I even consider going to happy hour after 5PM, I just can’t get in. Every restaurant is overflowing with people with long waiting lists. You have to go to the movies at least a half hour early to get a seat. I was in the Coach Handbag department (very very pricy if you are not familiar with this), in both Macy’s and a Shopping Outlet and the lines were formidable. In one Coach Outlet, there were so many people in line, that they had cashiers lined up like Wal-Mart to check us out. Now is having a Coach accessory a necessity like food and rent? Just wondering.
Well I could go on with my observations, but I am happy to see this money circulating. I am visioning our country and world moving into the greatest period of prosperity in the history of the world, as we are launching so many rockets of desire right now for exactly that to happen.
Affirm often:
Vast wealth is showering me in avalanches of abundance!
Sincerely, Joni
