Apples (October 2008)
I was recently having some unresolved feelings so over a few days, I asked for a dream to bring me clarity. Sure enough it came.
I dreamt that I was driving in a dark parking lot and I could not find my way out. It was a very scary dream and I was going forward and backward over embankments and feeling very panicky. At the end of the dream I kept thinking: “If only I could get to the Downes Motel and Main Street.” When I awoke I knew right away the meaning of the dream.
I was sad that I was unable to make my annual trip to Cortland, New York, my home town, this October. I adored going there every year and seeing old family and friends, breathing the fresh air, going out in nature, eating that great Italian food and equally important, getting the apples! You see we are famous for our apples: Cortland Apples they are called. We also have Macoun, Empire, Macintosh and so many varieties that I’ve included this link, if you are interested: http://www.nyapplecountry.com/azapples.htm. I go to Hollenbeck’s Cider Mill, drink some fresh apple cider, and then buy a ¼ peck of apples. I return with a suitcase packed with apples and for weeks I can enjoy a little bit of Cortland back here in California. I want to mention that Cortland is a very tiny place and I have never seen any large orchards there, just the little family owned business that supplies our town, and maybe some of the area with apples.
Well I awaken that morning after the dream and it actually caused me peace. I realized what had been causing my recent malaise, and that I had been longing for that East Coast grounding.
A few hours later, something told me to go to a very large grocery store near my neighborhood called Sprouts to buy some broccoli. I went to the produce department and I almost fell on the ground!!!!!! I saw a huge bushel of CORTLAND APPLES!!!!!!! I was certain that the angels had just put them there to teach me a lesson and to give me the grace of grounding myself! I was in SHOCK! Then I also saw Empire apples and east coast MacIntosh. I quickly bought 3 of each thinking this was some kind of cosmic joke. I went home and ate the Cortland apple and it was exactly as I remembered it: tart, sweet, hard and crunchy. I went back to the store the next day and bought lots more!
The lesson I gained from this is that you do not have to go anywhere to “get your good”. It comes to you!!! So many things had been rumbling in my mind over the past few months regarding “getting something or somewhere” and this miracle was evidence that the minute I forgot about it, and just went on my merry way, it was handed to me on a silver platter. The angels are taking good care of me and lining everything up for me if I will just stop chasing.
Affirm often: My highest good is here and is delivered to me on a silver platter (or maybe in bushels)!!!
Sincerely, Joni
